Brian Smith, Founder of Uggs

Ugg is a household brand that took the world by storm starting in 1978 with founder, Brian Smith, at its helm. On October 11th, EO West Michigan was lucky enough to enjoy a happy hour at Founders’ Brewing Co. and learn from Smith himself as he spoke to us about his journey toward entrepreneurship.

Smith was very clear about the turbulent birth of Ugg saying, “Sometimes your most disappointing disappointments become your greatest blessings.” Along with this mantra, he has learned that “bad stuff” can be looked at as an opportunity and that all entrepreneurs should ‘feast upon uncertainty’. This message resonated with both members and sponsors alike who have had their fair share of challenges as business owners.
